In Inuit mythology 'Amarok' is the name of a gigantic wolf, said to devour anyone foolish enough to hunt alone at night. According to the legend Amarok who was a lone wolf, came to the people when the Caribou was so plentiful that the herd had begun to weaken and fall sick. Amarok came to prey upon the frail and ill Caribou. Thus allowing the herd to become healthy once more, so that man could hunt. The wolf has special significance to many tribes. Wolf medicine is attainable by all, wolf is teacher, pathfinder, it comes to those who have lost their way. Wolf medicine is the divine walking abroad on the earth. it represents the fine balance in the cycle of life, nature and spirit, and imparts this medicine to others.

The grizzily bear was held in awe by most of the Plain's tribes. Grizzly bear medicine was much sought after by warriors. Bear cults existed for those men who had dreamed of them. Grizzly bear medicine is used for connecting with the secret rhythms of Mother Earth. It is invoked when developing ideas, dreams and plans, bringing them to fruition. Tapping into ones creative powers of the unconscious self. Grizzly medicine teaches the ability to retreat into power of introspection. It is used to cultivate strength, groundedness, and power. Bear is the sacred dreamer, the seeker of truth, teaching balance, activity with rest.
