If you would like to see more please visit the Gallery Pages 1 & 2 Warrior’s Prayer I walk into the darkness to seek a vision from the Holy Ones. I need their aid in my quest to find the red road in this World of adversity. I pray the Old Ones will grant me wisdom. The wisdom of the Ancients, to make me a warrior sage. To find the way of survival in this age of adversity. I call to my Spirit helper, to show me the truth. To be a warrior with vision. fearless and strong, in this World of adversity. I send my spirit into the sky to ask the Sun to grant me a vision. To be at my side when I fight for the people in this world of adversity. I send my smoke to the creator, to lead me safely, to help me go on. To give guidance for a warrior to live, in this World of adversity.

![]() Perhaps the tribe with the closest of all associations with the wolf is the Pawnee, in the lands now known as Nebraska and Kansas. The Pawnee felt such a close kinship that their hand-signal for wolf is the same as the hand signal for Pawnee. They were known as the Wolf People even by neighboring tribes. The cyclical appearance and disappearance of Sirius, the Wolf Star, indicated the wolf coming and going from the spirit world, running down the trail of the Wolf Road, otherwise known as the Milky Way. The Blackfoot tribe also called our galaxy the Wolf Trail, or the Route to Heaven. The Pawnee, like the Hidatsa and Oto tribes, used wolf bundles, pouches of skins from wolves in which to keep and protect treasured implements used for ceremonies and magic.......An extract from Cottie Burland Today my most recent painting has been finished. It is a 16 x 20
inch, pastel portrait of Native American Fast Elk of the Sioux. I have used a mixture of Unison and Sennelier Pastels on a sanded board. The preliminary sketch is drawn out in charcoal, followed by the initial under painting. The pastels are then applied in layers and blended with fingers and tools, until the required depth of colour and tone is achieved. This is built up in stages, and can take many hours to complete. Some of the stages of the painting can be seen below. If you would care to see the completed artwork please visit the New Painting Gallery on the website. Karen ![]() Native American Medicine Man The role of the healers was to get help from the spirit world. Each one would practice healing diseases, healing the mind, promote harmony between people and Earth. The medicine man also had the ability to inflict harm, promote fertility, and secure good hunting and fishing outcomes. |
